I did this illustration for the Los Alamitos Wiener Races last summer. They used it on the cover of the racing form. We entered Ellie. the youngest and fastest of our three dachshunds. There were a couple hundred dachshunds there that day. They raced them in between the regular horse races. To make a long story short, I'm at the gate with her and my wife is a couple hundred feet down at the finish line. When bell rang and the gate opend, she ran out ten feet turned around and walked back to me! The funny thing is that you have no idea what your dog is going to do until that moment.
Hi Jef! That Ellie is one svelte lady dog! She really reminds me of Susie, the dog we had when I was a kid. What a great idea to do Wiener races! It must have been hilarious. And with a couple of hundred dogs there must have been pandemonium. I wonder if anyone video taped it? -Arna
Dec 15: Hi Jeff, in the flurry of yesterday, we never got around to asking about your great dog racing drawing.. if that's cool, we'd like to put it up on our wiener post too. It's a beaut!
